Eek! Lightroom CC Update Nuked Some Cloud Pics

Aug 20, 2020 | News, Software

It’s the cloud; what could go wrong? Urp, it happened again. This time it was Adobe experiencing user data loss on the Lightroom CC system. To the software giant’s credit, it has already patched the problem, potentially preventing additional people from the same fate. The question of what about those missing images still hangs in the air.

Camnostic made inquiries to Adobe this morning. It may be some time before we have answers for those users regarding their missing images. The Lightroom page of known issues is mute on the matter still. Second-hand reports by forum posters regarding conversations with Adobe service employees do not bode well.

Most professionals appear to be sticking with the “classic” version of Lightroom (LRC), which may minimize damage to livelihoods. The cloud version still does not yet have all of the functionality of LRC, and there is the issue of, well, the cloud. When the smoke clears from this incident, Camnostic hopes to clarify, to the degree Adobe is willing to share, what sort of co-location features and backup policies are in place for user photos.
