Tamron Patents 24-70, Macro Lenses

Tamron applies for many fewer patents than most of its rivals, with a very high ratio of patents to products released, so it is with great interest that we see a new 24-70 f/2.8 design coming out alongside a macro prime.

The macro lens patent is less a specific lens design – although a couple iterations are shown – and more of a set of claims regarding a focus system that has two moving focus groups that, together, allow for the lens designs to be smaller.
