GH-5 II Spec Sheet Leaks, Still No Phase Detect

May 11, 2021 | Bodies, News, Panasonic, Video

The new GH-5 appears to be fully fleshed out in the draft spec sheet leaked to Nokishita this morning. Along with about two pages of video standards covered, the basics of the camera are consistent with the leak we saw yesterday.

Nowhere, unfortunately, is mentioned the inclusion of a phase detect method of autofocus, which means the camera will likely continue to use the Panasonic DFD system, which is perennially promised to have finally matured to the extent that it won’t make your video wibbly.

The camera will handle 30p 400Mbps 4:2:2 10-bit All-I video, as well as 60p 4K at 4:2:0 H.265. There are literally three pages of that stuff, the most interesting of which are additional streaming standards, including capacity to go up to 1080p 16Mbps H.264 at 60 frames per second.
