Nikkei reports Sony officials are calling the bottom of the mirrorless market, with them anticipating sales to start increasing from the current nadir. They’re less optimistic about the DSLR market, expecting a mass migration to mirrorless from the increasingly unupgraded – yet still quite large – mirror-slapping market.
Sony is currently number one in mirrorless, but Canon and Nikon are rapidly pushing their much-larger customer bases toward mirrorless.
This is the first time a camera manufacturer has dared to predict a market increase in a number of years. Previous estimates have been negative, and generally proven too optimistic in hindsight.
