Nikon will sell a limited edition (limited in quantity rather than being even more limited in function) Z5 kit that will include the f/4 24-70mm lens, a spare battery, filter and a stainless flash shoe cover. Nokishita reports that the kit will come December 11.
Nikon is an old hand at pushing out limited edition models. Three years ago it made lots of press regarding its 100th year anniversary editions of the D5 and D500 DSLRs, which essentially involved an extra logo and a steep increase in their prices. They produced a 70-200 f/2.8 lens (pictured) with the same logo. Nikon even had a site dedicated to the anniversary.
Limited edition cameras have been long associated with luxury brands such as Leica, but Nikon’s centuries-spanning history arguably them eligible for collector attention.
UPDATE: Nikon released the kit here.
