Two new Sony pieces of hardware passed FCC certification showing that they have high-end wireless guts, but also happen to mention some additional features that are, well, puzzling. In one case, the wifi networking was tested “with the top surface down,” and the other was “tilted to the left and right.”

One of the hardware model numbers showed up in Chinese filings at the end of October, with some speculating that it might be the rumored RX10 Mark V, although that camera’s form factor doesn’t seem to match the odd phrasing used in the FCC certification documentation.

Nokishita reported on the new certifications with the assumption that the hardware pieces were camera bodies, which may yet prove to be true.
