Canon Patents 35-110 f/2.8, Variants

Canon’s Japanese patent for a set of 35-110mm and similar focal length f/2.8 zoom lenses became public a few days ago [via Canon News]. Originally filed back in spring of 2019, the details include the use of air gap negative refraction lenses and a boatload of glass making the lens have a form factor similar to the already-released RF 100-500mm.

Canon patented three variants, including a 35-135, a 40-150 and a 30-110. The latter one would provide the maximum focal range when paired with the RF 100-500, and may be seen as the most complementary version for event shooters.
