You know you’ve made it as a lens mount when third parties start making lens adapters for cheap, obscure lenses from the mid 1990s. Such is the case with the new Shoten adapter made to attach Contax G lenses to the modern Sony mirrorless cameras.
These aren’t “dumb” adapters merely mating the mounts, but rather a true adapter allowing for Sony’s autofocus system – even it’s subject tracking system – to work through the old lenses.
The adapter costs about 43,000 Yen, or about $413 – about the cost of a decent Contax G Zeiss lens purchased on eBay.
