Nikon’s Sony Sensor ID’d

Nikon Rumors appears to have nailed down the model of Sony sensor used in the Nikon Z7 camera series – the IMX309BQJ. Nikon has been coy about the fact that it doesn’t make its own sensor, and has in the past designed its own sensors to have them manufactured by a third party, including Sony. That Nikon purchases off-the-shelf camera sensors is nice to have confirmed, but will surprise few.
