Sony Released 35 f/1.4 GM Everyone Expected

It’s here. Nokishita’s Twitter feed finally woke back up and gave manna to the rumor sites in the form of pictures of the Sony G Master 35mm f/1.4. It’s about the same size as the 24mm GM. There were no accompanying details, but if precedent serves, we’ll get a spec sheet shortly.

It costs $1,398.

Gerald Undone compared it to the much-cheaper Sony 35mm f/1.8, which costs half as much. It’s a bit better than the f/1.8, but he indicated he wouldn’t upgrade, as the f/1.8 is close behind, and not even the 2/3rds of a stop difference in light transmission as might be expected from a truly f/1.4 lens with good transmittance.
