Olympus’s Last Q3 Ever… ¥⬇︎:(

Feb 20, 2021 | MFT, News

Olympus pushed out the last accounting of its unwanted camera business, now being fostered among the corporate offices of JIP. In the very last quarter of its operations under the Olympus corporate umbrella, the camera division lost an average of about $350,000 per day, not counting a very large special accounting charge of about $500 million regarding the transfer to JIP.

That loss rate was two and a half times the bleeding experienced in the same quarter last year. Those operational numbers are the more useful to view in relation to OM Digital – the JIP division now homing the Olympus camera brand – as transition-related tax strategies can make other figures a bit volatile depending on how the buying and selling entities have opted to treat the numbers.
