Nokishita indicates that the next lens to come out of Sony will be a 50mm f/1.2, finally registering a lens in the bonkers-class competition among manufacturers for bragging rights. Sony has been sensitive to its lack of f/1.2 lenses, as some have assumed that its narrow mount standard is less capable in providing for high image quality in a super wide aperture lens.

Sigma disproved that quite definitively with its own excellent 35mm f/1.2 lens that it designed two years ago, available for both E-mount and L-mount.
The lens is rumored to be ready to release in March. It will face high hurdles to be considered competitive against the Sigma and Canon image quality competition at that aperture.
