Image Leaked of Sony 50mm f/1.2, Or At Least One of Its Fallen ‘Ornament Plates’

Nokishita, as usual, leaked product images of the expected Sony 50mm f/1.2 GM, as seen below. The image makes the camera look a bit smaller than the Sigma version of that lens.

Sony Alpha Rumors shows a very cropped screenshot of a rumored Sony 50mm f/1.2 GM lens. That, or a pre-production lens tester had its ornament plate fall off again. The image doesn’t give us much information, other than to confirm that it will be classed as a G Master lens, and that its aperture closes down to at least f/5.6.

SAR also indicates that rumors suggest it will have a 72mm filter ring, a not-terribly-close minimum focus distance of 1.32 feet and will be slightly shorter than the (rather longish) Sigma Art 50mm f/1.2. The costs is reportedly to be slightly less than the Canon RF 50mm f/1.2, which is to say it could still be the cost of a used car, but probably not as high as the cost of a new car.

An announcement for the lens is expected tomorrow.
