Canon: EF Lens Cancellations Not Cancelled; They’re Just Cancelled

Canon Australia, sensitive to the notion that EF lenses are being taken down from product lists even faster than RF lenses are being introduced, issued an odd statement to Aussie camera news site Inside Imaging. Canon tried to assuage concerns by current DSLR shooters that the camera giant will stop supporting their lenses.

“…Our commitment to supporting our EF lens range is unwavering. It’s true, Canon has recently discontinued select EF lenses in our range, however this is a process of series optimisation, not an indication of us abandoning EF lenses.“

The upshot: Canon isn’t abandoning the EF mount, it’s just “optimizing” it away.
