Tamron, as expected, released its 150-500mm f/5-6.7 zoom lens for Sony E mount, and the released MTF chart shows image quality unrivaled in the category. In fact, the resolution appears to be between that of the Canon 500mm f/4 II and the Canon 500 f/4 II with a 1.4x teleconverter.
We expected the lens to be nice, given that it is close to the most expensive lens ever offered ($1,400) by Tamron, and has more than a couple dozen optical elements, but this is remarkable. Of course, MTF charts are calculated functions of what we should expect for resolving power, and sometimes reality is a little different.
Tamron expects the lens to ship June 10.
