A Swiss camera site broke the embargo for tomorrow’s release of the Samyang 24mm f/1.8 designed for astrophotography. In addition to some more pictures (more than those already leaked) more details emerged.
The lens is chock full of special lens elements, has 9 aperture blades, and will cost the equivalent of about $625 in Switzerland.
The lens weighs 230 grams and is 7 cm long. The minimum focus distance is far enough out this won’t be particularly good for close-up photography. It has a special focus hold button and also a focus memory feature, allowing the return to a particular focal plane. This could be especially handy for astrophotographers who are constantly trying to relocate infinity focus.
