Canon Watch reports that it hears Canon will not replace the 90D, the current state of the art of Canon’s long-running upgrade path from the basic Rebel series. The x0 series has been the gateway drug for amateur camera owners to move quickly into Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS) by leading them on to higher quality sensors and providing tastes of professional camera controls.
Given that the EF-mount lens system appears to be dormant, this cannot be but so surprising. Pushing would-be big spenders into the older mount system makes little sense. We can likely expect an intermediate camera body to come out in the RF mount system – something between the basic EOS RP and the EOS R6.
