Seven lenses in two years is only slightly slow for a mature camera mount system, but that pace during the switchover to a new mount seems downright glacial. Missing from the system currently are any bright supertelephoto lenses and most fast primes. Nikon Rumors indicates the a 600mm, 400mm, 200-600mm, 100-400mm, fast 85mm and a couple intermediate zooms should come out… in the next 19 months.
Nikon has told multiple publications it plans to have 30 lenses out by the end of 2022, which implies there will be one more new lens aside from those pictured in the roadmap graphic shown above. It is difficult to speculate which lineup hole most needs filling. A 24-70mm f/2.8 or 50mm f/1.4 come immediately to mind, but as good an argument could be made for at least a dozen others.
