Sony’s first professional telephoto zooms are a bit old now, and some complain about build quality issues, so it wouldn’t be crazy to see them refresh the 70-200 or 100-400. But, for now, there is Firmware Update Ver. 06 for the 70-200, which improves autofocus “stability” in certain use cases.
While waiting for a Sony Mark II, there is the Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 (pictured above), which is much cheaper, lighter, smaller, and has the same image quality, upping the scrutiny put on OEM lenses.
