Canon Rumors indicates that Canon is gearing up for a sub-$800 full frame body to be released next year. The current entry level for Canon’s RF-mount mirrorless system is the full frame RP, which lists for $1,300.
That RP camera is pretty good for the price, replacing most of the functionality of the 6D Mark I and Mark II, with all three sensors sharing roughly the same image quality.
To reach down into the $800 realm, one wonders what sorts of functions might be nerfed. Already, and oddly, the RP lacks a silent electronic shutter and features some seemingly deliberate quirks and absences. Perhaps ditching the viewfinder would do the trick.
