OM Digital the red-headed stepchild camera spin-off of Olympus, will reportedly rename its cameras to line-up to adopt the naming convention of industry leader Canon. It will use the 1D moniker as the flagship name, followed by the 5D and then 10D convention for lesser models.
Canon’s naming convention has been confusing at times ( EOS 77D ?!), but perhaps more consistent, and certainly better known than those of competing brands. It makes a lot of sense for them to take the hit on naming confusion early, rather than letting the issue fester. Now that the camera names appear to be getting sorted, perhaps they can choose a company name.
