Reports from Japan (via SonyAlphaRumors.com) indicate Sony’s A1 body, along with business-to-business deals with major stock photography and journalism organizations – vaulted Sony to a share of roughly a quarter of the professional shooters at the recently-concluded summer Olympics.
The share came primarily from Nikon, it appears, as the pre-released R3 proved popular among Canon shooters. The big black Nikon supertelephoto lenses were much sparser this summer. Nikon’s coming Z9 flagship may put more wind in those sails, but the lens lineup in Nikon’s Z mount is very anemic for professionals.
