Canon filed for a patent for a 33mm f/0.95 lens for crop sensors. The fact that they’re designing APS-C is as interesting as the fact that they’re designing such a wide aperture, low-light lens.
The lens design is severely simple, appearing not to offer much in the way of correction. The six lens elements may prove most competent for the company’s security camera line, and may not indicate any great implications for the RF mount system.
Another version was also included: an f/1.4 50mm retrofocal design with a much longer back focus, which appears to be appropriate for the old EF-S mount system.
