Selling for about $290 in Japan, Nikon is releasing (Japanese) a 28mm f/2.8 cheap lens in Z mount. It is quite small, being about half as long as it is wide, looking almost like a pancake lens.
Nikon has been on a tear, releasing cheap-and-cheerful lenses in the face of an obvious dearth of professional-grade glass. It appears more and more as though this is a deliberate market emphasis given that the company – now reduced in size – can concentrate on only so many lens lines at once.
