It appears that when Olympus set its camera division off on an ice flow to make its own way, it also shed itself of a number of other product lines. The CEO of OM System, the latest brand iteration of Olympus’s red-headed stepchild offshoot, indicates that it plans to produce binoculars, audio recorders and other various products.
This might make Oly micro four thirds shooters a bit queasy, fearing that the focus of the very small camera maker may be pulled in many directions.
Interestingly, in terms of design elements that OM plans to emphasize, CEO Shigemi Sugimoto indicated dust proofing; weather sealing; small size; and image stabilization.
