Tamron Patent App Reveals New 90mm Macro

Tamron looks to be thinking about launching a 90mm macro lens for mirrorless. This Sony FE mount lens would have 12 elements and was first filed back in April 2020.

Sigma’s Third Party Attempt

Canon recently came out with its new 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens in its RF mount, which boasts a more-than-macro magnification rate (and an odd new SA control ring that appears to mostly reduce image quality when applied.) Sony has a decent high-end macro, but aside from that third parties haven’t quite solved the 100-ish mm macro focal length in providing equivalent image quality and also equivalent autofocus capacity. Sigma and Laowa both have entrants in this category, but they don’t quite live up to the first party brand versions.
