Canon’s native Japanese homepage, buried in its personal use category of professional products section, announced that the R3 launched exactly a week ago has a wait list that will take at least half a year to resolve.
Canon indicates that they are sending cameras out as they make them, rather than batching them up into container-sized slugs of inventory. This probably makes sense today because the shipping and logistics tangle caused in good part by pandemic-related market turmoil. Still, people ordering today should expect a June delivery in a good-case scenario.
That level of delay also applies to the new 14-35 f/4, while other new lenses should experience merely “longer than usual” delays. Those include the new 16mm f/2.8, the 100-400 f/5.6-8 and the 400mm f/2.8.
