Olympus’s Camera Store to Go Dark for a Month

OM System (formerly OM Digital, formerly Olympus) announced that it will take its online store down – or at least halt deliveries – starting in mid-December and continuing through mid-January.

Presumably, the transition has to do with their rebranding and perhaps the refreshing of their product line. It is quite possible that the current site is run on the Olympus corporate infrastructure, and now that OM System has been cast out of Eden, they need to figure out their own ecommerce solution. To require a month of going dark is, though, perhaps unheard of in the annals of online retailing.

Then again, not much is getting delivered right now, so in that fashion it could be auspicious timing.
