Two new cheap-and-cheerful lenses popped out into Canon’s R lineup this morning, with the official announcement of a 24mm f/1.8 prime, much akin to the 16mm and 35mm R mount lenses previously launched. Also announced is a 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 zoom, designed it seems for both a vlogging market, as well as a small and light kit for landscapes.
Priced at $600 and $550 respectively, this appears to be around the floor of Canon’s R mount pricing range.
Both lenses have a half-macro magnification rate of about 50 percent.
The lenses sport control rings and impressive image stabilization of more than 5 stops, and around 6.5 stops when combined with certain cameras that can integrate IBIS.
Availability is expected at the end of August, and pre-orders are already being taken now at the usual online retailers.
