OM Macro Lens Patent Shows Up

OM System’s lens roadmap has included a 100mm (or thereabouts) macro lens since it added a few lenses to the schedule back in September. Now we find a similar-sounding patent application published four years ago under Olympus was transferred to OM Digital in December.

Depending on how close to the minimum focus distance the subject is, this lens will have an effective focal length ranging from about 80mm to 100mm, with a correspondingly changing effective aperture ranging from f/1.7 to f/2.8.

The long-ish back focus of the design (~28mm) appears to allow for the use of teleconverters.
