Nokishita reports that Canon will soon announce a new R3 camera, although it isn’t sure whether this will be an availability announcement, or a development announcement. The camera pictured is an integrated frame, but appears slightly smaller than the 1 series.

[Update: Canon officially announced the camera’s ongoing development. Coverage here.]

The complement of buttons matches that of the 1 series, but the ergonomics on each appear to have been rethought, with clever additions, such as the front custom button pairs sitting at different altitudes to provide better physical distinction.

The three dials on top appear to all be recessed into the top, with the dial access made from the back.

The camera also sports a new, more regularly dimpled rubberized texture on most parts.
